2024 INTENSIVE PARTICIPANTS
JESSICA BURLAGE began ceramics in 2021 and hasn’t looked back since. Originally from the Chicago suburbs, she holds a BFA in Animation from Ball State University and spent a decade as an illustrator in the gaming industry. Inspired by the Pacific Northwest, Jess’s ceramics blend her love of adventure with her illustrative roots. An avid rock climber and outdoor enthusiast, she draws creative energy from her physical connection to the world.

Jess has discovered that she thrives in the supportive, collaborative environment of community ceramic studios vs. creating art in front of a computer screen. The diversity of people and ideas she encounters fuels her creativity and deepens her connection to the medium.

CAITLIN MCIVER, raised in Tampa, Florida, has explored creativity and physicality through various forms, including photography, horseback riding, fine woodworking, design, and now ceramics. She earned a bachelor’s degree in architecture from University of Colorado at Boulder and went on to receive a master’s degree in industrial design from Pratt Institute in Brooklyn, NY. During her graduate studies, she discovered her passion for teaching as a TA in 3D studio courses. She practiced in industrial design in New York City for a few years before deciding to pursue fine art. After moving to Seattle, she began taking ceramics classes at Seward Park Clay Studio and has recently returned as a Resident Artist. She now works full-time in ceramics as an artist, instructor, and studio tech.
SARAH MCCORMICK grew up in Seattle, thus fortunate enough to spend a significant amount of time in the beautiful PNW landscape. Most weekends were spent with her family on a rocky beach or bouncing through ferns in the Olympic rainforest. With a backdrop like this, she grew to appreciate the simple things and a slower pace.

McCormick entered into ceramics in the fall of 2023 and has found it to be another tool she can use to connect with other people. Creating pieces that bring people together for a meal and provide them with a sense of connection and calm is what motivates her to keep creating.
KHÁNH PHẠM is an explorative individual with a wide range of interests who has dedicated her life to pursuing them. She discovered pottery about two years ago and sought a more in-depth, hands-on experience, leading her to The Clay Corner. Taking a significant risk, she moved across the country from Boston to Seattle to immerse herself in the world of clay. In addition to her passion for pottery, Khánh loves building community, climbing, and being outdoors, making Seattle the perfect place to keep her engaged and inspired.
HENRY SINGER, lifelong Seattleite, discovered pottery by taking classes at Roosevelt high school in 2019. After doing some raku firings he fell in love with the craft, and he’s been an avid “pottery nerd” ever since. He’s eager to continue his non traditional pottery education through The Clay Corner.

AMY WINTER was born and raised in the Pacific Northwest. Her Scandinavian focus on simple utility and beauty come from her Swedish roots and exploring her Finnish husband’s heritage. Amy is classically trained as a dentist, her attention to detail can be seen throughout her work. She studied ceramics through continuing education courses at North Seattle College, a variety of workshops, and classes at The Clay Corner; a Seattle based studio. Most recently she completed a 4-month Ceramic Intensive Program intended to further ceramic artists in their skill set and careers at The Clay Corner. Ideally her pieces would be used daily and bring joy.
