The Clay Corner
Community Diversity Project
At The Clay Corner, we value community over all else. The best communities are diverse and rich with passion. We understand that there are so many amazingly talented and passionate (or soon to be!) artists that struggle with the financial difficulty associated with ceramics.
We offer financial aid for people who identify as one or more of the following:
- Black, Indigenous, or Person of Color
- Person with a disability
- Marginalized religious or cultural minority in the United States
How does it work?
Each month we set aside a certain number of memberships for underrepresented groups.
Receivers of the scholarship are given between 2 to 4 months of full studio and class access. The number of months is chosen by the scholarship recipient.
We understand that financial burden doesn't just dissolve after four months and ceramics is difficult to shake free of, so work-exchange, apprenticeships, or other aid opportunities may be available to those interested at the end of this program.
It is important to note that participation in this program will be anonymous. You will be treated no differently from any other member besides the assistance with funding.
How many people receive scholarships each month?
We hope to continue to grow this project so the number is not set in stone, but based on the available funds.
The Clay Corner is committed to allocating $2,000 per month worth of memberships.
BUT we are calling on the community to help raise that number.
In addition to full scholarships, we provide aid in the form of a "pay what you can" payscale as funds are available. Use the application link above or email if you are interested!
How can I help?
You can SPREAD THE WORD.
